My son and I are just finishing an amazing trip to Tanzania with Altezza. We climbed Kilimanjaro and then went on safari in Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. It was an experience I will never forget.
Our lead guide on Kilimanjaro was Albert. He was extremely knowledgeable and, most importantly, I always felt safe with him. He was calm, experienced and just a rock-solid guide. Philipo and Juma were also terrific and helped make the climb a great experience.
I especially want to mention Amani. He was our assistants and was one of those people you don’t forget. He knew so much about Kilimanjaro and Tanzania, but what really stood out was his personality. He was warm, friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing his country with us. He is a great representative of Altezza and Tanzania.
Our safari guide was Rasul, and he was fantastic. He knew the animals and their habitats extremely well, and I was impressed by how much he cared about Tanzania’s conservation efforts. He clearly takes pride in protecting the wildlife.
One of my favorite moments was finding the leopard. I wasn’t sure we were going to see all of the “Big Five,” and the leopard was the one I was missing. There were quite a few safari vehicles looking, but nobody seemed to be having any luck. Then Rasul spotted one lying on the branches of a tree. It was amazingly well camouflaged, and I honestly don’t know how he saw it! He was the first guide to spot it, and it was a fantastic moment.
A big thank you to Albert, Philipo, Juma, Amani and Rasul, and to everyone at Altezza. The guides really made this trip special. We came to Tanzania for the adventure, but it was the people we met along the way who made it so memorable.
I would absolutely recommend Altezza to anyone planning a Kilimanjaro climb or safari or both in Tanzania.
