点评:1.1km Moderate 0.5-1hr. 82m elevation. Rauðfeldsgjá is a beautiful gorge in Botnsfjall Mountain on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It's a deep, high and narrow ravine. You can walk up to and climb inside but only during the summer time. Rauðfeldsgjá means Red-Cloak Rift. It has a dramatic story and a family tragedy. There is a car park just by Rauðfelsdsgjá and the hiking path is just a short walk away from the narrow opening. Free parking. The walk is short and uphill. The gravel is a bit slippery. Making it inside the first cave is fairly easy to do. I couldn't see a way to go further in without getting fairly wet and it was at the start of the day so I didn't fancy having wet socks all day. Just standing in the first cave was super cool. I was the only one there at the time but more people approached shortly after. Well worth visiting at a less busy time as it is a small area.
