1880 Train - Hill City Depot的点评
点评：First, one of the biggest misconceptions is that you cannot see Mount Rushmore from downtown Keystone. Despite what many people assume, the monument is not visible from the town or from the train. To actually see Mount Rushmore, you need to drive about 3 miles from Keystone to the memorial. The train itself also does not pass by or offer views of Mount Rushmore.
As for Keystone, I found it to be an overly touristy town filled with souvenir shops, taffy stores, overpriced attractions, and very little that felt unique or authentic. It serves its purpose as a gateway to Mount Rushmore, but I wouldn’t plan to spend much time there unless you have young children who enjoy the attractions.
The 1880 Train was the biggest disappointment. While the restored steam locomotive is neat to see and the history is interesting, the actual ride is slow and the scenery simply isn’t spectacular enough to justify the price. The route winds through the forest with occasional views of creeks and rock formations, but nothing you won’t see—and often see better—while driving the scenic roads of the Black Hills. The ride also does not provide views of Mount Rushmore, which surprises many visitors.
