点评:After being recommended to visit, we decided to give it a go despite not being wine drinkers per se. The location was absolutely amazing, granted it was an unseasonably warm April day but even on our gloomiest Welsh weather days it would be hard not to be impressed. We arrived early and enjoyed a glass of juice before starting the experience, while sat in the beautiful "tasting room" with all the awards they have done displayed.
Colin, our host, started by giving us a talk on how it all began before moving to the courtyard where he explained the reason why their location was so unique in the production of wine. Despite living locally and passing the area frequently I've never noticed it before, which is a real shame as it's such a little gem!
Onwards to the vineyards themselves which one could have mistakenly assumed you were in Italy or something given the aforementioned glorious weather. The views created a really magical experience too. Again, Colin explained more about the process and their ideas and how it all evolved which was fascinating.
Now, onto the actual wine...... DELICIOUS.
As mentioned, we aren't wine drinkers generally but as equal opportunity drinkers (we'll try anything once!) we listened intently as each wine came out and was described. Each one was fantastic, it's easy to see how all the awards were won and rightly so. With trepidation I picked up the last glass, a red. I'm not a fan of red wine, to me they all taste like vinegar and are a waste of grapes. Not so with Rondo. It had a look of black currant juice in it's colour, much softer than any red I've had before, and it was fruity and full of flavour with no harshness which I was very surprised about - finally, a red wine I could drink!!
We finished off with a cheeseboard full of local cheeses and crackers, and a coffee, all of it absolutely divine.
All in, it was a fabulous 2½ hours. I'd highly recommend the experience even if you aren't a fan of wine. Thanks Colin and Charlotte for letting us join you in your home and looking after us so well.
