点评:Wildthingz Mushing was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. Emily and Richie don’t just run a tour — they live this life 24/7. With 20+ years of experience between them, they took the time to explain how the dogs are trained, cared for, and prepared for the trail. It felt authentic and educational, not rushed or canned.
What stood out most was how well the dogs are treated. Their love and respect for the team is obvious. They have 37 dogs, yet both Richie and Emily know their names, their personalities, their strengths and weaknesses. They truly treat their dogs like family members, not "race dogs". Even when their racing days are over, they provide love and care for them - truly a forever home.
The huskies were friendly, well cared for, and genuinely excited to run. You can tell this isn’t a photo-op kennel. These dogs want to work, and the owners treat that drive with real care.
Because it was summer, we went out on the wheeled rig/ATV instead of a snow sled. That ended up being a blast. Watching an athletic dog team pull through scenic trails was more fun than I expected — you still feel the power and teamwork of a real sled dog string, just without the snow.
If you want an honest look at sled-dog life and a fun ride with people who clearly love their animals, book with Wildthingz.
