Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden的点评
点评：Did you know that Venus flytraps are only NATIVE to Wilmington, NC and within a 75-100 mile radius thereof? Did you know they have small white flowers when blooming? These and other questions are answered along the trails of this unique garden. A passion project by Stanley Rehder (AKA the Flytrap Man), his <1 acre garden is a site to behold. You WILL see flytraps (some with digested flies), various Pitcher plants, and the pink Sundews everywhere you walk. The walk is along a very dry boardwalk which will end with a few steps down amonf the plants. The property abuts the Piney Ridge Nature Preserve, so you will see the Longleaf Pine restoration project in process as well. This is a must-see for any nature lover. March-April:
Yellow Pitcherplant -Sarracenia flava
Crimson Pitcherplant - Sarracenia leucophylla
April-May:
Purple Pitcherplant - Sarracenia purpurea
Hooded Pitcherplant - Sarracenia minor
Sweet/Red Pitcherplant - Sarracenia rubra
May-June:
Venus Flytrap - Dionaea muscipula
May-August:
Pink Sundew - Drosera capillaris
July-September:
Roundleaf Sundew - Drosera rotundifolia
We were lucky enough to see almost all of these plants since we visited in mid-May.
