Very Dissappointing
Moore Nature Reserve的点评
点评：Hadn't been to Moore Nature Reserve since before covid when I was a fairly regular visitor. This is when the landfill site was still in use. It was great for birdwatching, which is what I go for also the long peaceful walks. There were several hides and you could easily see across the water. Now sadly, it has been badly neglected. I know funding is an issue, but this site has so much potential. It's a pity the RSPB don't own it.
There used to be at least half a dozen hides but now due to vandalism only a couple remain, and you can't see much from them because it's all overgrown in front of the hides. Pheonix hide used to be great to look out across the reedbeds where I would see kingfisher and bittern amongst others. Doesn't exist anymore. same with Colins hide. Pump house hide is basically cut in half due to vandals trying to burn it down, but you can see very little from it anyway, again due to being overgrown. Feeding station is still there but not used and again overgrown. On the notice board it says due to funding issues, there are no plans to replace any of the hides or the feeding station.
The signs for the hides are still there so they need to be taken down seeing as they don't exist.
Nature has reclaimed a lot of the site so some of the paths are overgrown,(at time of visit).
Overall very dissappointed with my visit compared to my previous one years before.
Positives for the site are, it's still nice and peaceful, there were plenty of butterflies and the car park, though small, is free.
