An unforgettable, soul-nourishing experience

点评：My six days in the wilderness of Western Mongolia felt like a reset button for my life. Rolling back into Olgii town at the end of it all was strangely emotional — part of me was relieved to see familiar comforts again, but another part didn’t want to let go of the silence and vastness I’d grown used to out there.
What really stayed with me were the honest, everyday moments with the local herders: the long, bone-rattling drives through endless terrain, the shock of stepping into a freezing yurt at night, and the rhythm of living without electricity, running water, or any of the things I take for granted. None of it felt like a hardship. If anything, it made me feel more awake, more present, more there than I have in a long time.
Some memories I’ll never forget — riding on horseback through mountain passes, crossing those wide-open plains that seemed to stretch into forever, staying with an eagle hunter’s family, and hiking through land that felt absolutely untouched. With no screens, no notifications, nothing pulling at my attention, I found a kind of peace I didn’t even realize I’d been missing.
This trip didn’t just give me beautiful moments; it gave me perspective. I know I couldn’t live this lifestyle forever, but I walked away with a deep appreciation for its simplicity, patience, and stillness. It was exactly the kind of grounding, meaningful travel experience I’d been craving.
I’m genuinely grateful to my guide Erka and the whole team of Trekmates Travel — not just for showing me Mongolia, but for sharing it in such a real, generous way.
