A Hidden Gem and an Absolute Must-Visit!

点评：We stopped at Sculptureum in Matakana on our drive from Ruakākā to Auckland, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
From the moment we arrived, it was obvious how much thought, creativity and care had gone into every part of the experience. The sculpture gardens are beautifully designed, with winding pathways, colourful and thought-provoking artworks, and plenty of open space to wander at your own pace. Every turn revealed something unexpected, making it feel more like an adventure than simply walking through a gallery.
What really stood out was the atmosphere. It never felt crowded, there were plenty of places to sit, relax and simply enjoy the surroundings. It is one of those rare places where art, nature and tranquillity come together perfectly.
We also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant, which was excellent. Sitting by the fireplace with great food after exploring the gardens was the perfect way to finish the visit. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the wonderful welcoming woman in the gift shop was an outstanding host, genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the venue. It made the whole experience feel warm and personal.
Allow at least one to two hours to fully enjoy everything, and don’t rush. Whether you appreciate art, photography, beautiful gardens or simply unique places to visit, Sculptureum offers something for everyone.
Without question, this is an absolute must-visit if you’re travelling through Matakana or heading between Northland and Auckland. We would happily return again. 🌿🎨✨
