This was our first time at Golden Ears and were very excited to be so close to such a beautiful lake. We read over the BC Parks description of each the campsite and decided that we wanted a site along Gold Creek and close to the lake so we book North Beach Campground. The campsite diagram gave us the impression that we would have easy access to the creek and the lake.
When we arrived we discovered that we were indeed along the creek, but 200 feet above it (with a very steep drop/hill) with no access to the creek from our site. Also, we found the road to the lake at the top of a very steep hill which we did venture down. Unfortunately, I had knee problems for the next two days and the walk back up the hill was quite difficult.
Additional, there is no drinking water available at this campground and you need to drive over to a different campground to get it.
The area is beautiful, and we did enjoy our afternoon at the Day Use beach, but I wish the website would have mentioned these things so we could have booked and planned accordingly.
