点评:Overall, this was an incredible experience and I am so grateful to have experienced the natural beauty of this area in such a special way. Our English guide/translator Naina was kind, helpful, and friendly and she was focused on safety. However, the male “guides” (owners of the horses) and a couple of young women who were guides in training could have been better about considering the safety and comfort level of guests - for example, despite Naina explicitly saying “don’t run downhill!” the other Kyrgyz group members would take off at a trot or gallop, which spurred all the other horses to do so. I am a semi experienced rider while the other 8 members of my group were beginners and it didn’t feel like enough care was taken to support beginners (e.g. safety tips when galloping or going up/downhill). The third day was an extremely steep downhill climb on ~4000 meter slopes with the horses getting a bit unruly, slipping, and a lot of running downhill on very sore and tired bodies - I was very nervous as were several other members of the group. The guides were clearly eager to get back to the village and kept pushing us to trot and run; I love to gallop when safe to do so (not downhill if you’re not very experienced) and when not sore from 2 days of riding, but this felt like it was pushing us as riders to the point of exhaustion and nervousness. I would encourage the company to consider a safer route for the return trip, especially when taking beginners and to check in with riders on how they’re doing, if they are up for going faster, etc. The yurt camps were very nice - while the beds aren’t the comfiest it feels relatively “authentic” and the hosts were always kind. I was grateful that they always accommodated vegetarian dining! Pack warm clothes for nights and cards and a book as there is a decent amount of downtime when not on horseback. I would definitely recommend this experience to non-beginner riders and/or folks who are not afraid of heights. I think this company is good overall and with a bit more focus on safety/comfort level of guests, especially taking a hard look at day 3, I think this will continue to be an incredible experience.
