点评:You simply must take this hike. Watch the movie first if possible, so you'll see the well-done, almost-accurate story beforehand. With 1700 feet of elevation change, it's not a super-easy hike, but the length is the only thing that makes this a moderate - to - challenging hike. Watch your footing, but there's no bouldering or rock-climbing on this trail. It's just a good workout. Stop and read each memorial along the trail, then hike down to the larger memorial at the site where these brave men perished. Take lots and lots of water, and plan on 4 - 5 hours for the full hike. A few snacks, too. Start early. The Park Ranger at the parking area was one of the most helpful rangers we've ever encountered. He knows this area well, and knows the history too. We met firefighters on the trail who were there to pay respects and leave a memento from their own fire service. Please do the same if you're in the fire service in any capacity. Be prepared for an emotional experience, unlike other hike you've ever done.
