点评:We had a memorable experience. We were a small group: apart from my wife and me, there were five others. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Our guide, Dan, took us to three wineries, the last of which -- Mota -- was the highlight. Here we met the grandson of the founder who explained how they use the traditional method (barefoot) of crushing the grapes, producing only a few hundred bottles a year. This is more than a winery: as the picture shows it is also a small museum of times past on the island. Dan was very informative about the island, its history and topography, and of course about the strange vine growing process on this volcanic island. There were great opportunities to spend time at the wineries we visited and make some purchases. Needless to say, we picked up a few bottles of Mota wine to take home. This was a great afternoon spent visiting places across the island, some of them off the beaten track. Well worth it!
