点评:Before going, I contacted MPA to find out if I needed a reservation and was told I could "just show up" on that day. When I showed up, i saw a big OPEN flag waving in the breeze before being greeted by a huge, beautiful German Shepherd. I love dogs and was even more delighted when a second one appeared. It was all downhill after that.
The dogs accompanied me to a building with a TICKETS sign and a small, open window. Wallet in hand, I peered into the darkness but saw no one. After a minute or so, I heard a shuffling sound. I said "Hello?" which scared the life out of the young woman who was scuttling around in a second, darker room. She then came out of the building and instructed me to call the number posted on another window to get "them". Meanwhile, a car stops in the parking lot and an older woman gestures to a nearby shed while asking if its a bathroom. The kind (albeit misguided) young woman pauses before stating "it isn't finished yet" and telling the woman she could "go over there". She was pointing at a small, wooded lane across the road. Whether there was a building or merely bushes, I do not know. I digress.
I tried multiple times to call the number but was met with complete silence before realizing the cell service was non-existent. The young woman had gone towards a blue roofed house behind the ticket booth so I headed there to see if she could get ahold of "them". My former friends, the German Shepherds, did not think that was a good idea as one of them came towards me with a warning growl. I immediately stopped and said "I'm okay, guys". The young woman answered for them by saying "They're not". Thankfully, the dogs were very well-trained and listened well to her. However, another wanton, potential zipliner might not be as wary. Again, I digress.
I explained that I couldn't get through hoping she might have a better avenue but she was as hapless as I. She tried calling many times before giving up and suggesting I continue to wait. I returned to my car just as it began to spit rain. I stated to think my adventure wasn't going to happen. But having seen the forecast I understood the rain was to be short- lived and resumed trying to call "them". I could hear the young woman chattering away down behind the ticket booth and hoped she was talking on her phone but she was probably chatting to the shepherds.
I continued to try the number because there was still five and a half hours before closing time and I was prepared to wait. Low and behold, my phone connected! No one answered but I was prompted to leave a message and/or a contact number. When the time came, I heard "The Eastlink customer is not taking messages at this time".
Finally, I gave up and decided to visit other businesses in the area. I inquired at one as to what the deal was with MPA and relayed my experience. I was asked "was there a black truck in the yard because that means he is there" JFC. I am a lifelong Cape Bretoner and understand this kind of statement. If this is pertinent information, maybe include it in the advertising.
So, I am left disappointed for myself, embarrassed that a CB business is so lacking in business sense and uncomfortable at what such sloppy communication means in their attention to detail in all standards of the business. I had read bad reviews before stating that reservation or not customers were dismissed. I put it down to cranky people from away just complaining. Nope, its the way this business runs.
