点评:We visited the Ranger station first to check in and verify weather. We have been in Joshua Tree NP before and weather looked great but ranger warned about a rainstorm and she was right. So always check with ranger before heading out for long hike. If you don't want to hike much but want to see the huge Palm Trees growing in the desert, you can drive to the parking lot where Cottonwood Spring Starts. There is a short paved path to the palm trees and you can stand under them and understand the immense size.
If you want to hike, the path is clearly marked. Many views of rock formations, cactus, birds and lizards. We didn't see any Bighorn sheep on this hike. The trail does go up and down, rocky/sandy path and hiking poles did help. Take water, good shoes, hat, protection from the sun and watch your time and when you want to turn around.
