点评:I really wanted to understand what Ferrari Land was trying to achieve, but unfortunately I came away feeling that this is a park carrying the Ferrari name without capturing much of what makes Ferrari special.
I should add that I have previously worked as a contractor on Ferrari corporate events, so I have seen first-hand the importance the brand places on presentation, quality and the experience surrounding its cars. I expected some of that magic here. Unfortunately, I struggled to find it.
We started with Flying Dreams and encountered one of the most inefficient ride systems I have ever experienced. We were at the front of the queue from opening and it still took more than 30 minutes to actually get on the ride.
Once aboard, I was even more confused. It’s a flying theatre taking you across various landscapes with Ferraris appearing along the way, but there was virtually no coherent story. Ferrari has an incredible history and some of the most beautiful and iconic cars ever produced, yet none of their elegance, history or character came across to me. The graphics also looked dated and certainly didn’t give the impression of the quality associated with the Ferrari name.
Racing Legends had much the same problem. We jumped between various racing environments without any real narrative or sense of drama. Nothing felt particularly thrilling or exhilarating.
There is so much potential here. Pick a circuit. Give us a story. Build some tension. Put us into the driver’s seat and make us feel the speed, danger and drama of racing a Ferrari. A more intense simulator system could make this an incredibly immersive attraction. Instead, it felt like watching disconnected racing sequences.
Red Force is easily the attraction worth visiting for. The speed and views are impressive and it’s a good coaster, but I don’t think it justifies Ferrari Land existing as a separate theme park. Personally, I’d much rather see Red Force incorporated into PortAventura itself.
Even then, as launch coasters go, I personally prefer Stealth at Thorpe Park in the UK and Spitfire at Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia.
We also rode the Thrill Towers. They’re perfectly fine drop towers, but again, nothing particularly memorable.
Then we entered the shop.
The prices were astonishing. We saw a toddler’s Ferrari jacket for around €110, a child’s hat for approximately €55 and even a keyring around €30.
I understand perfectly well that Ferrari is a premium luxury brand, and I wouldn’t expect Ferrari-branded merchandise to be cheap. However, this is also a family theme park attached to a mass-market holiday resort in Salou.
There will be plenty of children visiting who absolutely adore cars and Ferrari, but many families simply cannot justify those sorts of prices for children’s souvenirs. There needs to be a much better range of genuinely affordable merchandise alongside the premium products.
Overall, Ferrari Land feels like an enormous missed opportunity.
Ferrari gives you more than 75 years of motorsport, engineering, beautiful road cars, extraordinary personalities, victories, rivalries and drama to work with. There is enough material there to create some genuinely world-class themed attractions.
Instead, beyond Red Force, we found a collection of attractions that rarely captured the excitement, elegance or theatre that I associate with Ferrari.
For a park carrying one of the most famous automotive names in the world, I expected considerably more.
