Burpee Museum of Natural History的点评
点评：We had another wonderful afternoon at the Burpee last week. My husband and I visited with our grandchildren.
The boys wanted to see Jane first. We enjoyed seeing her again, and intact juvenile T Rex uncovered by paleontologists from Rockford. It’s also cool to see a model of her head! Right next to her is an assembled TRex (full size) where it’s carefully noted which bones were excavated and which are modeled. We then moved on to see Homer, the Triceratops. It’s fascinating to see the heads of many Triceratops cousins, several of which are huge!
We then went upstairs where we all enjoyed viewing the well displayed minerals. Our youngest grandchild really enjoyed feeling them!
Then up to the 3rd floor where the kids got to experience handling several reptiles thanks to the kindness of one of the young volunteers. He was working with them and really seemed to enjoy letting the kids experience this. Our granddaughter kept saying “ oh wow!” (She’s 1 1/2).
As we were leaving, a couple of school groups had just left. The staff had just let out a large turtle to roam around the lobby. It kept following our grandsons. The staff members said it thought their shoes were good because they were green! What fun, we hung out for a while longer.
I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen the Burpee to experience it first hand.
