5/5 for Pal Saruon as a guide around Siem Reap

点评：Honestly, my guide Pal Saruon was amazing. I would say 5/5 but it was more like 6/5 because he went above and beyond from what I could see, definitely more so than other tour guides I had seen taking people around the temples. He is very smart, knowledgeable, speaks English very well, and knows almost every one of these hundred or so temples like the back of his hand. You can also see the enthusiasm in his face and in his expressions when he speaks about the temples. I originally hired him by chance through my driver last minute looking for a guide for the temples. He crushed it the first day so I asked him to be my guide the second day as well. Moreover, if you are like me traveling solo, or even with friends or families, he did photos for me everywhere and knew all the best spots. He's a really nice guy and you will not be disappointed in having him as a guide.
My only feedback is the choice of restaurants for when you stop to get food. They did seem a bit overpriced and touristy. As soon as I sat down for lunch, four separate and rather large groups of tourists walked in with their tour guides in the span of about 5-10 minutes, it seems they all bring them to the same places. I also noticed that none of the tour guides/drivers eat with their groups likely for the aforementioned reasons, so if that is a concern to you I would simply raise it with Pal and ask to go somewhere else. The quality of food, however, was still great.
Overall, I would absolutely hire him again as he really is one of the best guides I have had in my 15+ years of traveling and living abroad.
