A morning trek with lunch to Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary. Luang Prabang.

点评：A truly exceptional trip. We did the morning visit which included a short educational presentation, a trek to see the elephants in the forest and finished with lunch. Our guide Rabbit collected us promptly from our hotel. He had excellent English. His knowledge of the elephants was very good. The trek started with a small boat river crossing. Rabbit’s knowledge of local plants and their traditional uses was fascinating. We found the elephants ( auntie and adopted daughter) quite high up in the forest enjoying the bamboo leaves. Rabbit helped me with the climb . We spent time moving through the forest with the elephants watching their natural behaviours . The Mahouts guided them down to an area where we could feed them pumpkin and touch their trunks. Afterwards we followed them down to the river to watch them drink. After a quick trip back across the river we were presented with a wonderful lunch. I would like to thank all at Mandaloa for making us feel so welcome and sharing their wonderful work. Everyone from the drivers, the boatman, the mahouts, the restaurant staff and especially Rabbit work so hard to look after their guests. A wonderful place that truly places conservation and the elephants welfare first.
