Adventure of a lifetime in Botswana

点评：I have just finished up two wonderful weeks camping across Botswana with Africa’s Best Adventures.
I found Altis through a friend of a friend and after meeting in Cape Town earlier in the year , decided to take the plunge.
I have travelled quite a lot in Africa but never camped in my life ( now in my early 60s) . I wanted to give it a go whilst still relatively fit and active.
Altis planned the trip meticulously and kept me informed throughout.
We camped in some wild remote places -
No WiFi for 5 days, hyena and wild dogs at the camp, an elephant at the showers (Botswana has no fences) but it was truly magical! Lying in the tent at night hearing hyenas, hippos and lions and wondering what the next day would bring !
We saw so much- about 20 lions, three packs of wild dogs, elephants in abundance as well as plenty of antelopes, giraffes zebras and wildebeest.
Missed out on seeing a leopard and no cheetahs but I have seen them before and never stress about what nature will reveal.
I’m also a very keen birder and whilst this is not Altis’ main focus , he adapted the trip so well and was happy to stop whenever I wanted to see what was in the trees or in the air!
He also arranged a private bird guide for one afternoon on the Chobe river which was one of my highlights.
In all I saw over 130 beautiful birds including several new to me.
As well as the wildlife and all Altis’incredible knowledge- he is also an excellent cook and prepares wholesome meals every night.
He is happy for you to be involved as little or as much as you like in terms of cooking, setting the camp up and down etc and I found myself able to relax and didn’t feel pressured at all.
Family and friends were concerned I was going with a stranger for two weeks and what would I find to talk about- they need not have feared!
Altis is friendly but not intrusive, respectful and courteous and we enjoyed many conversations along the road and over meals about all kinds of things , nature, family and even occasionally politics!
He is a true professional-
The trip exceeded my expectations a million times over and I hope to do another one in the future!
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience the real Africa but wouldn’t have the confidence or expertise to do it themselves.

我还是个非常热衷观鸟的人；虽然这并非阿尔蒂斯行程安排的重点，但他很好地调整了行程安排，每当我想观察树丛或空中的鸟类时，他都很乐意停下来！
他还特意安排了一位专业的观鸟向导，在某个下午带我在乔贝河边观鸟，这成了此次旅行的亮点之一。
