Unexpectedly Not Dog Friendly and Disappointing Customer Service

点评：We arrived with our family looking forward to spending some time browsing the garden centre and café, and potentially making some purchases. However, we left almost immediately after discovering, very unexpectedly, that the garden centre is not dog friendly.
We often travel with our small, very well behaved dog and have visited numerous garden centres, both large chains and independent businesses, and have always found them to be welcoming to dogs. Because this is something we have never previously had an issue with, it honestly didn’t occur to us to check the policy before arriving at Burford.
Whilst we completely appreciate that individual businesses are entitled to have their own policies regarding dogs, we found the experience particularly disappointing because the policy was so unexpected and meant that our planned family visit was cut very short.
Perhaps most disappointing, however, was our interaction with an employee outside. They appeared genuinely taken aback that other garden centres allow dogs and showed very little empathy or understanding that we had been inconvenienced by the policy. A little understanding and a more welcoming response would have made a significant difference.
It’s a shame, as we had arrived intending to browse, spend some money and enjoy the café, but instead we left almost immediately. If you are planning to visit with a dog, be aware that dogs are not permitted.
