点评：For anyone wanting to view a working Chesapeake Bay watermen's village this is the trip to take. If you are expecting some island such as Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard this trip is not for you. The Chelsea Tyler leaves Crisfield at 12:30 and arrived at Smith Island at about 1:30 right at the entrance of the Bayside Restaurant. I decided not to have lunch at the restaurant as the ferry departed for Crisfield at 4PM and I wanted to have time to see the entire island. I rented a bicyle (walking and golf carts are two other options) to tour the island. Opting for bicycle transportation allows one to travel to Rhodes Point whereas golf carts are restricted from traveling to Rhodes Point. I was hoping to ask many questions about the population of Smith Island at the Smith Island Cultural Center but unfortunately it was closed. There are many structures on the island in varying states of dilapadation and many of the homes have been battered by the elements for decades. However if one explores the island deliberately, you can see many tidy watermen's cottages and grand three-story homes with gabled roofs in fine condition. Given that it was drizzling on and off for the entire time I was on the island I only saw two locals who bid me a friendly hello. My tour of the island lasted a little over two hours but if you are in a gofl cart and just want to see what's on the island you could complete your tour in an hour.
