Small museum, lasting impression
War Childhood Museum的点评
点评：A small but remarkably well-crafted museum in Sarajevo. The concept is simple and effective: a collection of everyday objects – toys, clothing, photographs and other personal items – each accompanied by a short story from someone who experienced childhood during wartime. Most stories come from the wars in Bosnia, but also from other conflict zones such as Ukraine and Gaza.
There are no overwhelming facts or political narratives here. What you get instead is something much more immediate: a deeply personal, object-by-object account of what it means to grow up in a war. The objects are rotated regularly, so a return visit after some time is worthwhile.
Students guide visitors at the start, but you are then free to move through at your own pace – which is exactly how it should be experienced. Even though the museum is small, it is remarkably dense and leaves a lasting impression. Well worth a visit.
