点评:The Norton Collection museum is located to the north of Bromsgrove and the bus station is around a third of a mile away on foot.
Bromsgrove station is about two miles distant and bus 52 operates from there to the bus station.
The museum contains a huge amount of artefacts pertaining to the local area, especially industry in the West Midlands and other activities.
There’s a lot of information about the Speedwell Bicycle Club, founded in 1876, and their numerous cycling trips.
Local industries such as nail making, lead works, salt production, Fairfield glass and brewing are well portrayed.
I particularly liked the old shop fronts on the first floor. A large range of old style shops including milliners, gramophone records, newsagents and toy shops amongst others.
There were numerous exhibits relating to the Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Art which was found in the late 19th century.
This organisation related to the Arts & Crafts movement produced the main gates at Buckingham Palace and the Liver Birds which sit on top of the Royal Liver building in Liverpool.
I spent a most enjoyable hour or so browsing the interesting content. The volunteers here are most enthusiastic and helpful.
Admission fee is £5. The museum is open from 10-4 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
