点评:The family had a lot of fun feeding and putting reindeer. The staff were all very kind, knowledgeable, they could name every reindeer, and was very attentive to visitors and animal safety. What I wish we could’ve had more of, was some educational moments. The “tour” if you could call it that, felt very impersonal and rushed through each part of the experience. Which makes sense since 1000+ people get moved through there daily, but the cost vs feeding reindeer for maybe 5 minutes doesn’t really equate to the same. There is a short educational video that gets played prior to going in and feeding the reindeer, however, I wish that it would’ve provided an opportunity to ask questions and/or go into conservation, why are reindeer important in tundra, environments and communities, how are we protecting them, etc. talking about differences in reindeer and caribou (usually that’s a question most people would ask) It also would’ve been nice to have the opportunity to feel a dry reindeer pelt, as going to this experience during the winter, you only get to feel wet, mated reindeer hair directly on the animal. Which is also amazing, a comparison just would have been nice. Again, it was a great experience, the family all enjoyed their time, and I will continue to recommend it to those coming to Leavenworth.
