You may skip Nathu la as it requires efforts of climbing stair and all you see is an international border. You may go to Baba Mandir which is another 30 minutes from the lake if you are fascinated by the Holiness of the temple and its history. However out of the 3, This lake visit is most favourite.
Always remember
Book Vehicle at least 2-3 days in advance for Lake and other visits. If the tourist are more, you may find vehicles at a premiums and high priced. You may easy go to the lake and Baba Mandir in WagonR or swift desire, however if you want to go to Nathu la, you must get a SUV. Rates of small vehicle for Changu and Baba Mandir could range from 3000-4500 based on season while average is 3750. The rates for Innova Crysta would be from 5500-6500 while average would be 6000. Rates of Xylo or Innova plain or similar would be 500 Rs. cheaper than Innova Crysta.
Yak Ride at the lake is a must. You need to negotiate, they may quote 3000 per person, I think Rs. 500 per person is good in low season and 1000-1500 per person if the season is at its peak. We paid 4000 for 3 yaks as we were here at peak season.
