Interesting experience if you understand what is going to happen - tourist beware

点评：I understand this is a sacred site for Hindu people but taking advantage of tourists who do not have the same beliefs cannot be what Hinduism stands for.
Our driver took us to the lake and suggested we have a local guide. For 500 rupees this seemed to make sense. However what we were not made aware was that the local guide would lead us to an audience with a local priest which would lead to being asked for a donation for meals in multiples of 2000 rupees. By this point we just had to get away so we offered the minimum of 2000 rupees in cash. No receipt and no idea where the money would end up.
So traveller beware. If you hold Hindu beliefs you will know what to expect. If you do not hold Hindu beliefs make sure you understand what is going to happen when your driver suggests you have a local guide.
We have no problem with supporting people less fortunate than ourselves but hiding it under the name of religion is not what religion should be about.
