A wonderful family stay – we’d return in a heartbeat
Old Leckie Farm的点评
点评：We stayed at Old Leckie for six nights with our three girls and genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
The converted barn is absolutely lovely – spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and incredibly well equipped. The beds were particularly comfortable, with lovely down pillows and duvets, and the kitchen had pretty much everything we could possibly have needed. There were all sorts of condiments already in the cupboards, dishwasher tablets, a washing machine and lots of other thoughtful practical touches that made staying there as a family really easy. There were also plenty of games and books for children of different ages.
The welcome was fantastic. Communication before we arrived was quick and clear, and Alison and her family were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay while never being intrusive. When we arrived there were fresh eggs from the farm, butter, milk from a local dairy and a fresh loaf of bread waiting for us – still warm! It was such a lovely touch.
The setting itself is beautiful. It feels genuinely rural, peaceful and quiet, with incredible views and lots of outdoor space, yet you’re still close enough to Stirling for supermarkets and everything else you might need. We found it a brilliant base for exploring the area, including Stirling, Falkirk, Callander and Loch Lomond. Gargunnock is also just nearby and the local pub is well worth a visit – lovely food and very friendly.
The real highlight, particularly for our girls, was the farm itself. The animals are literally on your doorstep, but despite that it was incredibly peaceful and we were never disturbed by them at night. Alison made the children feel completely welcome to go and see the animals during our stay.
She also very kindly took time out from working on the farm to give us a proper tour. We went to see the cows and sheep and she happily answered what felt like endless questions from both us and the children! We then visited the chickens, where the girls were able to go in with them and pick them up, before seeing how the eggs are collected, sorted and boxed. It was fascinating and without doubt one of the highlights of the entire holiday for the children.
There genuinely wasn’t anything we disliked about our stay. Old Leckie manages to combine beautiful, comfortable accommodation with a proper working-farm experience in a way that feels completely natural and relaxed.
We would 100% stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, especially to families. A really special place.
