Our guide Aman was phenomenal. Attentive, passionate, and bursting with knowledge, he brought the otherworldly landscapes to life with fascinating stories and explanations. He never tired of our questions and made sure everyone felt safe, informed, and completely absorbed in the wonder of places like Erta Ale and Dallol. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does.
A very special mention must go to Chef Hadgu – what a magician! The fact that he served such delicious, fresh meals in the middle of one of the most extreme environments on Earth is nothing short of remarkable. Every dish was simple yet bursting with flavor, prepared right there in the field. Enjoying a warm, tasty meal under the stars after hiking a volcano was a luxury I didn’t expect, and Hadgu delivered every single time with a smile.
And then there’s our driver Ermyas – a true professional behind the wheel. Navigating the rugged Afar terrain is no easy task, but he did it with such skill and calm confidence that we always felt in safe hands. To top it off, his excellent music playlist turned the long drives into a rolling celebration, perfectly matching the epic scenery outside the window.
