点评:During our stay on the Big Island, we were determined to visit a coffee plantation. Turns out, we did two. First, we went to Thunder Mountain, and while we did the educational tour there, they mentioned that they occasionally processed some coffee for Kona Joe, and that they also had an educational tour which included actually roasting a batch of your own coffee. Hurricane Nolo was approaching the island, and throwing a wrench into a lot of the excursions. One of ours was canceled, so we were looking for something to do on our now open day, and Kona Joe's was the answer. It seemed a bit pricey to do the roasting tour, but it was well worth it. To walk through the whole process, then watch a video of how it comes together, and finally get an opportunity to roast your own small batch of coffee (I think it was about 8oz) was really educational and really cool. They have about a half dozen small batch roasters, and each person in the tour literally gets to roast their own beans, to the darkness and taste you desire. Then bag it up and take it home. It was a lot of fun. Amy was our tour guide, and she did a great job. Very informative, and knew her stuff. When we were done, and getting our free coffee mug (oh yeah, you get one of those too), she confessed that this was her very first tour she had given. Wouldn't have known. Again, she did a great job.
