We had the pleasure of joining the Free Private Tour Guide Hanoi tour to Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) to see the special night laser show, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam.
From the moment the two university students arrived to pick us up from our hotel, we knew we were in good hands. They were warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about sharing their city and culture with us. Their enthusiasm made the entire experience feel personal and authentic rather than just another tourist activity.
The night laser show at Van Mieu was spectacular, blending history, culture, and modern technology in a way that was both beautiful and captivating. Having our student guides explain the significance of the site and its history made the experience even more meaningful.
What really made the evening special, however, was what came after the show. Our guides took us to a hidden local restaurant that we would never have discovered on our own. This wasn't a place promoted on social media or packed with tourists—it was a genuine local gem where Hanoi residents go to enjoy authentic food. The dinner was absolutely delicious and gave us a true taste of local life.
The entire evening felt less like a tour and more like spending time with friends who were proud to share their city with us. Their kindness, local knowledge, and attention to detail created memories that we will cherish for years to come.
