点评:First time visiting Bugtopia on Sunday while staying at our caravan in Scarborough. Our boys really enjoyed it as they have a big interest in reptiles, and there’s plenty to see.
I would recommend visiting, but unfortunately our experience with staff wasn’t the best. As it was our first visit, we weren’t familiar with the procedures or what to expect. We were asked to dip our shoes in a disinfectant, which is completely understandable, but when I mentioned I was wearing canvas shoes, the staff member replied, “Well I’d prefer you to have feet than us have dead animals.” At that point, nothing had been explained about free-roaming animals, so the comment came across quite abrupt and a bit rude.
On the way out, another family was being welcomed in and the staff member was explaining to them about walking slowly to spot the free-roaming animals. I mentioned that we’d managed to see everything on our second lap, meaning we’d taken our time and felt lucky to spot them all. The response I received was, “You definitely won’t have seen everything,” which again felt a little dismissive and unnecessary.
Overall, a great place with lots to offer, but a more welcoming and informative approach from staff would really improve the experience.
