Phenomenal Camping Trip to Lake Natron & Oldonyo Lengai

点评：We had the pleasure doing on 3 day trip to Oldonyo Lengai and Lake Natron with Kilisa Tours & Safaris. From the moment we were picked up from the airport the service was seamless and of very high standard. We had a private Jeep just for us with Simon driver/guide and Juma his assistant who also filled in as the cook plus all the chores around camp. Yes it was a camping trip.
The ride to the shores of Lake Natron was smooth, as we left the towns and drove through the beautiful Maasai country, we would see a few wild animals and then meet a Maasai grazing their cattle and sheep.
We camped on a lovely spot on the shores of the lake and it was lovely. Dinner, and drinks around the bonfire and then retired into our tent which was surprisingly comfortable.
The next morning, we went for the trek, it took us about 4 hours of trekking to get to the top. This was absolutely awesome and the views really jaw-dropping. It was my first time to be so close to an active volcano!
We also went around the lake with it’s unusual red hues and numerous flamingoes in the distant. Once in a while we would see a flamingo that had stepped too far into the lake crystalized in the soda ash which was eerie.
Our hosts did a phenomenal job organizing this trip and we are totally happy with the overall outcome.
