点评：Ponte Gregoriano spans the deep gorge of the River Aniene and connects Tivoli’s historic centre with the entrance to the valley of Villa Gregoriana. The bridge was built in the 19th century as part of an extensive project commissioned by Pope Gregory XVI to redirect the river following devastating floods. Right beside it, the water cascades over the rocks, its sound giving the entire place an unforgettable atmosphere.
Ponte Gregoriano is beautiful during the day, but in our opinion it reveals its greatest charm after dark. The bridge is then delicately illuminated and offers a magnificent view across the dark valley towards the illuminated Temples of the Sibyl and Vesta, standing high on the rocky hill opposite. Together with the lights of Ristorante Sibilla, they create an almost fairytale-like scene filled with history and romance.
We definitely recommend returning in the evening, even if you have already visited the bridge and Villa Gregoriana during the day. After dark, the view from Ponte Gregoriano becomes one of the most beautiful and romantic experiences in Tivoli.
