点评:Our last stop for the 6 nights Tohoku was in Aomori and we were here after taking the morning Kuusbas Shinkansen from Morioka.
We have some time before we took the connecting Ou Line to AomoriJR sta so we explore the station a bit..
The station serves as the terminus for the JR East Tohoku Shinkansen Line and also connects the Ou Main Line for Aomori, Akita and Hirosaki. It was opened in the late-80s and considered new in Japanese Rail network, having the Shinkansen line extended here only in 2010 before further extending to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. The station has two exits: The East and South exits. There are also 2 large bus stations that currently operate out of Shin-Aomori station.
Spacious and not as packed as the average larger JR stations there are kiosks, cafes and restaurants located within the station. And there are some Hirosaki Neputa displayed, welcoming everyone to Aomori! There is also a Tourist Information office which is located at the east exit where we visited and looked for more information of Aomori Prefecture and surrounding cities. There is a large JR Ticket Reservations office to handle enquiries and make the necessary reservations.
We spent slightly close to an hour here, enough to go through all facilities.
More a transport hub than a specific to-visit place..
