Tour Mongolia的点评
点评：In the 80's and 90's, I was a wilderness guide in Alaska. also had the great fortune to do trips throughout the world since. Twice in my life I've gotten to eat at Michelin starred restaurants. So let me put it this way-- if Michelin rated tour companies around the world like they rate restaurants, then Tour Mongolia would be a 2 star Tour Company because they are one of the absolute elite, best ones of the entire world, not just Mongolia. (Note, there's a total 500 Michelin 2 or 3 star restaurants out of 15 million restaurants world-wide.)
We did a 10 day remote, backcountry trip. Something like what we did--rugged and arduous no matter what--brings out the true colors of a tour company. The company, the guide, the drive/wrangler. the cook all nailed it, and I mean nailed it, top to bottom. (Any company can do a fine job on a car tour or simple 'canned tour,' the true test of quality occurs on the most challenging trips, like ours.)
I prefer to not name the exact trip we did or provide the name of our staff because I don't want to cause that trip or those team members to be overly requested.
Make no mistake, the number one thing that made this trip so special is Mongolia itself, which is wondrous/ break taking. But it is not a Western World developed nation, and we saw lots of unhappy tourists (with other tour companies, not ours) who weren't mentally prepared for the conditions it entails to go remote in Mongolia.
We actually did three trips in Mongolia, spent a month in country. This was the only trip that we did with Tour Mongolia. What a mistake! So we have something to compare to, this isn't a 'blind' rating of a tour company in Mongolia.
I just want to add, Thank You again to Tour Mongolia and our team, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
