Almost perfect, let down by the basics

点评：Arcane is almost my perfect bar. The lighting and mood hit exactly right for me. Calm, intimate, not too busy, not noisy, with decor that feels considered rather than trying too hard. It’s the kind of place I want to sit for hours. The cocktails were excellent. Properly balanced, interesting, and clearly made by people who know what they’re doing.
What let it down was basic hygiene. The toilets had no hand soap and no paper towels. We told the hostess, who thanked us. Nothing changed. A few drinks later we told another member of staff, again acknowledged, again no action. After waiting and checking again, still nothing, we decided to leave out of frustration and said why.
The response was defensive. We were told there was an issue with the supplier. That isn’t an acceptable explanation. Not having soap means people can’t wash their hands. You don’t wait days for a delivery. You go to a shop and fix it immediately.
This should be my forever favourite bar, and it probably would be if the basics were handled properly. Amazing atmosphere and drinks, but hygiene isn’t optional.
