点评:I learned a great deal during the course, from how to put on my crampons correctly to ice-axe arrest. It was fast-paced, very practical and enjoyable. We were up on the hill the morning after a short introduction to avalanche safety. Going on my own I felt welcome into the group. Ella was a great instructor with masses of experience, ably supported by Liz, who was shadowing.
Immediately following the course, I hiked across the Cairngorms with my tent, camping at frozen Loch Etchachan and climbing Ben Macdui and Bynack More. Without the training, this would have been impossible (or at least very unsafe). I am now looking forward to more winter adventures.
My only recommendation for improvement would be a one-page handout during the course with a list of the key information taught and websites mentioned. However, this information was sent out by email a few days after the course, along with very helpful supporting videos and even pictures of the Timing Card, for example.
