点评:So, we booked a tour through Lyvai in November for a day at Le Ponton in early March.
Prior to the trip Lyvai were terrible at replying to emails despite me translating into French but I figured they are busy and wasn't too bothered about it.
We were visiting for the day off the cruise ship Anthem of the Seas, and the booking was to transfer my family of five from the cruise ship terminal to the location where the Le Ponton water taxi was waiting for us.
Le Ponton is a floating restaurant about 5 – 10 minutes from the beach.
Instead of taking us to meeting point the Lyvai bus driver who spoke no English dropped us off at some random location that was next to a resort and swimming pool.
So, there we were standing in the middle of nowhere, with no mobile coverage, not speaking the language and no idea where we were supposed to be to get taken to our day at Le Ponton.
We walked to a nearby swimming pool (Ouen Toro Swimming Pool) and fortunately a lovely pair of French ladies who understood English and were in the tourism industry understood where we needed to be and transferred us in their private car to the water taxi.
The one star rating I have given Lyvai isn’t for Le Ponton who deserve five stars for their excellent restaurant and service, and it isn’t for the good and friendly staff at Lyvai who we interacted with at the cruise terminal.
The one star is for the bus driver who dumped us in the middle of nowhere and for the lack of interest from Lyvai in addressing the issue after the incident.
The lovely host at Le Ponton called Lyvai on my behalf and she basically said they blamed us for it.
This is a warning to others who might book through Lyvai, don’t get off the bus unless you are sure there is someone there to escort you to the next destination.
The locals said that this is not unusual.
Fortunately, we are a resilient family that rolls with the punches but if it had been an elderly couple or someone more vulnerable, I would be concerned.
