No manatees or hot water, sewage issues
Manatee Springs State Park的点评
点评:Tent camped for 2 nights (was supposed to be longer but we left early). No hot water in campground. Tepid at best. Sewage system gets backed up, causing Magnolia 1 campground toilets to back up and the entire campground to smell like raw sewage. Made multiple people in my party almost throw up. Park staff knew about both issues and said they have been ongoing for months. The worst part? No manatees at Manatee Springs State Park. There is an overgrowth of algae that chokes out the grass that the manatees eat and seemingly clogs the spring vents that feed the spring warm water from the aquifers. Water here is much colder than at other local springs. Go to Crystal River where they have addressed algae overgrowth, prioritized healthy springs and grass growth, and therefore, naturally, have a thriving manatee population that this place entirely lacks. Florida State Parks has let this park go and so should you. We’ve tried tent camping here twice and will never be back.
