点评:First & only time visitors to beautiful Salcombe estuary . Arrived mid morning & was shown to a swinging mooring by the harbour patrol , it was very busy . We went ashore & paid in the office , and we explained to the staff that we had a dawn departure next morning ! We went over to the beach on the East bank & within minutes we saw 2 people walking on the deck of our vessel , with their vessel alongside our own ! We were horrified ! Had we been informed that there was a possibility of being rafted up against , perhaps when we were in the office, we could have left fenders out in preparation & locked up our expensive equipment . We shouted to them but they ignored us . We swam over & asked what was happening only to be told the HM had told them what to do ! We radioed the HM who came promptly & with a serious attitude as to our plight ! He returned later to ask us if we would like to move to another mooring that had become available ! Why the other vessel , who arrived 4/5 hours after us , wasn’t moved is a mystery ! We refused . All that needed to be done was explain their rafting up policy , as we were new to here , & there wouldn’t have been an issue , I don’t think it is right that other people can access your boat without you having knowledge of it , accidents happen , I understand that but it can be a “ your word against theirs “ situation . We e mailed them after to complain but received the same attitude as the harbour patrol , who even admittEd that they didn’t communicate with their office ! I wouldn’t say don’t go because it is spectacularly beautiful, unfortunately the attitude of the harbour staff is NOT !
