点评：The Alabama Hills National Scenic Area is a jewel, a treasure for anyone traveling down or up Highway 395. Located just 7 or 8 miles west of Lone Pine CA, the Alabama Hills are a hiker's dream. Countless trails fan out in all directions from Whitney Portal Road. Some trails can be strenuous but most are fairly level and straightforward. The other worldly rock formations are everywhere.
Try to hike to the Mobius Arch which rewards anyone with a beautifully framed view of Mt. Whitney, standing majestically at over 14 ,500 feet, it is California's highest peak. The views of the Eastern Sierras are spectacular from anywhere in the Alabama Hills. Lone Pine peak is also easily visible from any vantage point.
Keep an eye out also for Nightmare Rock with it's uniquely painted face. The Alabama Hills have served as a backdrop for countless Hollywood Films, especially films from the Western genre going all the way back to the 1930's.
Camping is available as well in the Alabama Hills. The Alabama Hills Scenic Area should not be missed. Bring a camera. This place is a photographer's dream and best of all, it's free to anyone.
