点评:Antique Row was in its prime in the 1990s. The area it encompassed existed along Orange Avenue from Virginia Drive to Princeton Street, and nearly every shop there was an antique shop or antique mall - this is not an exaggeration. Mayor Glenda Jackson even designated it "Antique Row" and it had a brown official Designated Area sign that you see in towns across the country identifying historical or cultural sites. I was a dealer who moved to Orlando from Colorado in 1996, and could not find space in the district, so settled for Mills Avenue, which had several shops and malls as well. Then Ebay happened. Online sales of collectibles and antiques effectively killed the business, until one by one, all those shops disappeared. Today, there are so few in the district that the brown sign is gone, and large spaces like the malls that existed in the district have been taken over by corporations and house everything from call centers to hospital admin stuff. There are a few holdouts, including one very large shop furniture shop, a vintage record shop and maybe a couple others, but the hey-day is long gone...There are a few shops now along Virginia Drive and not far away over on Corrine Drive in Audubon park and College Park, but most cater to mid-century modern, with no real "antique" presence. There might be a couple shops still over on Park Avenue in Winter Park, a few miles up in its historic downtown area.
