格里菲斯天文台的点评
点评：We arrived at the Griffith Observatory at opening time on a hot day. I was surprised to see so many people here and the car park was almost full very in mind you have to pay $20 or more to park for a few hours visit. The visit wasn’t enjoyable as I would have expected purely because there were so many people there with young children push chairs et cetera so it was difficult to get around without having to dodge round some of these families we managed to go into the theatre to enjoy the water theme presentation which you lie back in the chair and look up into the dome to see the projected film. It was quite amazing and probably the best feature of the visit. You have to pay extra to go into the theatre it’s around $12 each I think. We had a look round the perimeter of the observatory looked at the views of Los Angeles. It was quite hazy but you could see some of the very wealthy establishments that are builton the Hill. Some of these are famous entertainers and some are private millionaires. We could see the Hollywood sign also from that vantage point so there wasno need for us to drive up to the sign as we had a good view from the observatory. Holy in all I wish we had gone ona much quiet today but then again it is a very popular tourist point.
We stayed for around 2 to 3 hours. There is a café there which is quite pleasant. We had a cool drink and some snacks and then made our way back to our next tourist spot. If you are an Astronomy enthusiast. I would definitely recommend a visit to the observatory for baby time it for a much quieter period there is lots to see and do in relation to the science but to be honest there are lots of kids there too young to understand what it is all about I think that’s a pity because there is nowhere in the observatory to specialise for very young children to get the basics of the science.
