Blackpool Illuminations 2026 - A Wholly Underwhelming Experience
Blackpool Illuminations的点评
点评：A mid-week Tuesday visit in September 2026 (Weather - overcast but dry and warm)
(I walk through the display rather than driving - I park up at one end and use the Tram to get back).
Each year the display gets more disappointing than the last!
A considerable number of the displays are just lit-up pictures, others are just strings of multi-coloured bulbs. Occasionally there are interesting displays but in this day and age the designers could come up with something a bit more visually impressive than this! Very underwhelming! Many displays have ben there for many many years!
The large displays at the north end are 90% the same, although even in the third week of the display there were many that were either badly lit of in darkness.
The 2 piers, South and Central, put on a better display than parts of the promenade!
The North Pier itself, (the bit where you can walk down to the end),shut at 20:00hrs only half and hour after the display was switched on for the night!
The Tower closed at 16:00 which is bizarre during the illuminations period!!!
Strangely - before the display was switched on for the night the Tower was already lit up showing all kinds of colours and looked very impressive - however, as soon as the illuminations on the prom came on the Tower reverted to a fixed and bland display that stayed static instead of a colour-changing and "dancing" light display. Very disappointing.
The North Pier area was only lit by standard street lights, and looked a little foreboding as it is quite a busy area.
The service trams were few and far apart and, as far as I could see, were only running a 20 minute service all evening which meant they were all quite full with not much seating available.
There were no tram tours of any description, only Star Gate to Fleetwood scheduled services.
Also - every other tram travelled via by Blackpool North Station which meant part of the journey was away from the illuminations anyway.
The views of the lights from the service trams is very poor, especially if you travel on a tram with an all over advert on it, there used to be open-top trams years ago and these were perfect for seeing the illuminations!
The illuminated trams were always part of the Blackpool Illuminations and it is noticeable how much they are missed. Whoever thought that removing them was a good idea clearly wants there heads testing! They were as important as the illuminations themselves!
I did see an double-decker open-top illuminations bus tour start from near the Tower Tram Stop and it seemed very popular.
The whole experience was disappointing, underwhelming and quite frankly not worth it, I only visit because I live close by and nostalgia means I go back every year, but if you have to travel a long distance to see them my advice is don't bother - its not worth it!!!

塔楼在16:00就关门了，在举行灯光秀的期间这样实在很奇怪！！！
奇怪的是——在夜间灯光秀开始之前，塔楼就已经被点亮，呈现出各种色彩，看起来极其壮观——不过……一旦海滨大道的灯光亮起，塔楼就又恢复到了那种固定且乏味的灯光显示模式——不再有变色和“舞动”的效果。实在令人失望。
北码头区域只有普通的路灯照明，由于那里是个相当热闹的地方，看上去有点阴森恐怖。
服务电车数量稀少且发车间隔很长，就我所见也是如此。整个晚上都只运行着20分钟一班的车次，这就导致车厢里挤满了人，可用的座位也所剩无几。
根本没有任何形式的有轨电车观光项目，只有 scheduled services 从 Star Gate 开往 Fleetwood。
另外，每隔一辆有轨电车都会途经布莱克浦北站，这样一来行程的很大一部分时间其实都远离了灯饰景观区。
乘坐服务电车观赏灯饰的效果非常差，尤其是当你乘坐的车厢上布满了广告时，情况更甚。多年前，这里曾有敞篷有轨电车，它们简直是观赏灯光秀的绝佳工具！
这些带有灯饰的有轨电车向来是布莱克浦灯光秀的重要组成部分，现在人们明显十分怀念它们。那些认为取消这些电车是个好主意的人，显然需要好好检查一下脑子了！它们的重要性丝毫不亚于灯光秀本身！
我确实看到有一辆双层敞篷观光巴士从塔楼有轨电车站附近出发，看起来颇为受欢迎呢。整个体验令人失望，毫无亮点。坦率地说，根本不值得一去。我每年都去，只是因为住得近，加上怀旧情结在作祟；但如果你需要远道而来进行参观，我的建议是：别去了——根本不值得！！！
