Great historical explanation of indigenous Indian tribes treatment by our white forefathers. Sad history but great info

点评：I took my two 12 yo grandkids for this visit and a neighbor. The facility is a beautiful Spanish style with a large courtyard for eating and gatherings, art gardens, water features and gardens.
The staff were very friendly and helpful as it’s kinda not a straight shot around the building. Different rooms with incredible Indian items from numerous tribes. Barry Goldwater, former AZ governor, donated 400 kachina dolls from different times and tribes- talk about wow!
Clothing, everyday useful items and jewelry from tribes all over the United States and they didn’t forget the Inuit’s.
The one exhibit that truly captured my attention was the Indian Schools exhibit. Murals, audio of the trains that took the children away, photos of the kids in uniforms, haircuts were a must, schools and dorms where the “kidnapped” kids were taught to be “white” and forget their heritage and languages. Failed experiment and since I didn’t grow up in that era or this area I was ignorant of this part of our history.
The fine art gift shop has beautiful art and jewelry for sale. The basic gift shop lots of books on the Indians, the code talkers, children’s items and more.
The Cafe serves delicious food at a fair price.
The car was chatty on the way home from our outing experience and history lesson.
