点评：Went with parent, who is an artist and a FLW fan, on the in-depth tour. Parent had been to Taliesin in WI and she said Fallingwater was a much better experience to her. But from the parking lot to the visitor center to the house - very well laid out with a great integration of nature. Plenty of free parking. Short walk to the gazebo-like visitor center. The visitor center featured a central desk to get tickets and have questions answered, with a cafe on one corner, museum on the other and a gift shop on a 3rd corner. Restrooms were clean and had a nice woodsy scent. Very calming area as we waited for our tour. Not sure how calming it would be on cold days though. But 5 stars on the facilities
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. There is a bit of walking and one visitor had to sit on the beds in every room as her back hurt. But they do have a small shuttle to bring you down and back from the visitor center to the house if needed. The tour itself was well organized - the guide spoke into a headset while all visitors had an earpiece - so we all heard everything even while lingering in a room behind the group; every tour should be like this! Group size was perfect. 5 Stars on the tour.
My parent loved the house. I was not a fan of the concrete walls, but I loved the details to include the corner windows, the beveled solid wood doors, floating shelves, hidden door hinges, stone flooring, and the history of the place. I think there is a bit of something for everyone to enjoy to be honest. There was some renovation on the roof but even that added to it for me as the guide explained the maintenance required to keep the house ship-shape (which in my opinion may be one reason why the family ‘donated’ the house;). But 5 stars on the house.
