San Blas Islands的点评
点评：Our trip was booked for September, during the low season. Unfortunately, we never really felt welcome as his final guests.
Mike’s website shows fantastic photos and clearly describes what is included. Unfortunately, our experience was a major disappointment. The only thing that matched the website was the price. Snacks, drinks, towels and crew were advertised as included, but that was not our experience. We had to bring our own drinks and snacks, and Mike expected us to replace his crew.
We had even asked politely via WhatsApp beforehand about things that were supposed to be included. Questions were often met with anger. Even small things, such as using or putting something in the wrong place, could result in an angry reaction.
The biggest concern, however, was safety. Mike was operating a very large boat alone in a remote area. We did not feel safe with that, especially knowing that there was no real control over what was happening around us while we were snorkeling or kayaking.
What made matters worse was the threatening language used towards us, including telling us that he could put us off the boat. That affected us deeply. We had done nothing to provoke this. We later understood that Mike was dealing with serious personal and crew-related problems. We can understand that circumstances can happen, but personal frustrations should never be taken out on paying guests.
For the avoidance of doubt: we paid the full price and did not ask for or receive any discount. This was not a cheap or casual trip. We travelled to the other side of the world and spent hundreds of dollars just getting there. We had looked forward to this trip for a long time.
The San Blas Islands themselves were beautiful. Unfortunately, our experience with Mike as captain and host was not. The trip left us with a very bad feeling.
Our advice: absolutely visit the San Blas Islands, but think twice before booking Mike’s boat. What is promised on the website and what we actually experienced were worlds apart. The only thing that matched was the price.
