What is the point of saving minutes on a fast train when it takes an hour to get a ticket ?

点评:Arrived in Narita from Hong Kong. Having visited Japan many times in the past, I wanted to show my wife Tokyo. I had told her repeatedly about their efficient trains !
In the past I had always taken limo-busses direct to large hotels. Here I wanted to use train and underground. We were met with chaos at T2. The queue was out of the door and queues to the ticket machines stretched for maybe 40M.
Hoping to avoid these queues I downloaded the app and bought tickets. Only to be informed that the QR code this generated allowed me to join another queue for a physical ticket. This took an hour,
If you arrive and this place is swamped, my advice is
1. Go to JR.
2. If you must use the "skyline" then don't use the app. It's just an extra step. When we were there, the queue for the cash / credit card ticket machine was shorter, but still took maybe 30 minutes.
What is the point of spending billions on fast trains, when ticketing doubles the journey time ?
