Erie Canal Cruises的点评
点评：I was very pleased with the canal cruise. We actually rented a canal boat one time so have been on part of the canal and through some locks but the narrative on this trip along the way was very informative. And it is so much more relaxing to have someone else as captain!
The whole ticketing process was easy. We got our tickets online a week before our trip. When we arrived, we looked around the shop. There is a head on the ship, but we used the restrooms at the shop before boarding.
Outside, at the dock before boarding are a few chairs, benches and tables, some shaded. We waited there a few minutes before being called to board.
The ship had bench seats with life preservers stowed below. You can purchase snacks and drinks onboard, but we didn't so I can't comment on those.
There is a recorded narrative, but the captain did interrupt it at times to add more.
We passed by the Plantation Land Management island where we saw a bald eagle perched.
There were plenty of other birds along the way - a great blue and a little green heron, cormorants, mallards, Canadian geese, and a kingfisher.
Along the canal we saw some of the land side things including the Fort Herkimer Church. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. And followed along the bike path where we saw folks enjoying their day. There were a couple folks fishing in the canal too.
I highly recommend this trip. It is a great way to hear about NY history and the part the Erie Canal had in making NY the Empire State.
